Rose: True Blood

I'm going through pangs of True Blood withdrawl. I can't wait for the first season to come out on DVD (May 19) and for the new season to start (June).

In case you're not familiar with the show, think Nip/Tuck edginess. Only with vampires, and set in podunk Louisiana.

Zombiemania!!!!

Update: This link was just posted on the IMDB.com hitlist this morning. Unbelievable.

Everyone is zombie-obsessed!

I don't really get the whole zombie appeal (the only zombie movies I watch are Shaun of the Dead, Fido, and 28 Days Later. Perhaps it's because I am a through-and-through vampire enthusiast.

For a while now I have been tinkering with a vampire movie script. Why? Good question. I'm involved in a sort of horror-movie war: my friend Don and I are on the vampire side. The other team is developing a zombie movie.

HOWEVER, I would put this in my yard, if only to scare off unwanted neighborhood children squashing my petunias.

America's Next Top Model

In case you didn't know, this coming season of America's Next Top Model (cycle 13, not cycle 12 premiering on Wednesday), is going to feature short contestants, 5'7 and under. There's a casting call this weekend in STL, so yours truly is going to try to make it there. Expect photos and an insider's impression on the casting process.
Below: my headshot.

Update:
Okay, so I went to the audition and it was madness. Hundreds and hundreds of girls, and it wasn't even 8 a.m yet, which was starting time! So I didn't get to audition, but did turn in an audition tape. No regrets though, because I talked to some people and found out girls were getting turned away that had been there since 4 a.m.
Apparently STL chicas weren't the only unlucky hopefuls. Check out this vid that was just posted on Youtube featuring an NYC crowd going crazy outside of the ANTM auditions.

My secret love affair with Perez Hilton(.com)

I loved him before Dita. Before Katie. And all the while in secret. Then came weight loss, and a whole new man.
I feel like I don't know him anymore, like he's a stranger. His self-promotion is annoying and he's always talking about his (famous) friends. It's like we have nothing in common now that he's changed.

Maybe we should break up?

I'm talking about Perez Hilton, the overweight laptop ninja who laughed along with us at ridiculous celebrity behavior. Who doodled alien antennas (and worse) on celebrity pictures. Who now is trying to become one of them -wait, what?!
Am I the only one tired of the constant self-absorption? I really don't want to read about his night out with so-and-so, or his new book. I don't want to hear about his famous friends or his cameo in a music video. I miss the old Perez: chubby and mean, spelling mistakes included. If I wanted feel-good, I'd watch Oprah.

(In case you're wondering why I'm reminiscing, I had an internship interview today and I was asked what websites I read. Sigh, I told the truth.)

Oscar Popcorn (Marshmallow) Cupcakes

What beats watching the televised Oscars on a Sunday night?
Okay, being at the Oscars. But almost as cool, Oscar cupcakes.

I got the "recipe," or rather the idea, from a pretty awesome cupcake cookbook. I'm usually a fan of finding your own stuff online, but this book was too cool to resist.
Here are some pics from my cupcake fun. Props to my awesome boyfriend who helped lots!

I made 24 cupcakes, but I would advise making a smaller batch...
Also, because the marshmallow popcorn tops take up so much room, you don't need to make the "cake" of the cupcakes as tall. In fact, the author of the recipe book chose to make mini-cupcakes.
Below is a closer look at what the "popcorn" looks like. You simply cut a small marshmallow into three pieces and assemble (with icing) those parts into a sort of three-leaf clover with an uncut marshmallow as a base/stem. I used yellow and white marshmallows for the "popcorn" look.

Fake Madonna sighting and lenticular Jesus

So yesterday I’m running late to class -as are the people in front of me, and the guy stepping on my heels…

And what do I see but a girl wearing a rosary around her neck, and no it was not Madonna (I know, I'm disappointed too). She had this kinda cool and edgy goth/punk combo going on.

I’m a firm believer that this whole winter season has been a knockoff of 80s looks. But is religion in? It would appear that religious items are.

This month’s issue of Nylon featured a little piece on these cool jewish rosaries. The artist (Carlen Altman)'s site is pretty cool, tho I found the items kinda pricey. I can't wait till the plastic rosaries go on sale, I'm a big fan of the red ones.

This leaves me wondering, "Is my lenticular Jesus/Last Supper picture, complete with fancy frame and light, fashionable also?"

I hope so.

I remember when I made my lenticular Jesus find in a local thrift store. My mother was h-o-r-r-i-f-i-e-d.

It'll always have a special place in my heart because

a. I had to fight my mother (and win) to buy it. Literally. There were claws involved

b. It was my first purchase for my apartment.

So here's a blog dedicated to hoping that religious items are in. I know those WWJD bracelet makers got my back!

Tuesday

Sick and ...sick.

Okay, okay. You will have to be patient as I am deathly ill (well it feels like it) and my brain is not functioning. Laughs to follow.
